Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens entirely on your own device, inside your browser. Your PDFs and any passwords never leave your computer, so there are no upload waits and no copies kept anywhere.
How do I extract text from a PDF?
Add your PDF and the tool reads the text layer page by page. You can then copy everything to the clipboard or download it as a plain .txt file.
Why is no text found in my PDF?
If a PDF is a scan or a photo of a page, it has no text layer to read — only an image. Convert it to images, or run it through OCR first, to get text out.
Does it keep the formatting?
It pulls out the words as plain text, not the layout, fonts or columns. Page-break markers are optional so you can tell where each page ends.
